The 2006 Victorian Schools Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships were staged at the You Yangs near Geelong. Organiser Peta Whitford was pleased with the increase in numbers from 80 in 2005 to a record 130 on Friday. Macedon’s Braemar College (98 points), coached by Mandy Hennessy (former Eureka member), won the overall title with Balwyn HS (78) and Monbulk College (58) filling the minor placings. No schools from Ballarat entered the competition this year after Ballarat Sec College (led by Stephen Balharrie) did well in 2005 to take third place.
