Eureka’s David Elms (Men Open D) and Stephen Balharrie (Men Open B) lead their respective classes after Sunday’s MTBO event under blue skies at Macedon Forest. Both David (498 points) and Stephen (491 points) have unbeatable leads going into the final event at Castlemaine on 17 September on the Old Quartz Hill map. Elms won Course 4 for the third time this year scoring the maximum 100 points. Stephen Balharrie, a first year student at Charles Sturt University in Albury/Wodonga, was narrowly beaten by Peter Cusworth on Course 2, but scored 99 points to wrap up his 1st place in Men Open B. Warwick Williams showed off his newly purchased Avanti bike, but finished 25 minutes behind Balharrie on Course 2. On Course 3 Blake Gordon consolidated his second place in M60+ with a 4th placing behind newcomer Damien Home. Ian Farhall rode well to finish just over 2 minutes behind Gordon to move up into 3rd place in Men Open C.
