"Best course of the year" said Bruce Arthur, VOA President. And his family echoed the words – both Torren and Mason won their junior courses, while their mother Anne topped the women’s results on Course 5. And that was echoed by most of the people around the finish. The Lawfords – Geoff (Course Planner) assisted by Jenny- Blake Gordon (Organiser) and Tim Dent (Yarra Valley, Controller) want to thank the great Eureka efforts today. I was really pleased with everyone’s work that made for the best Eureka event of the last few years. We tried to keep it simple, but did try out a few bits of our developing technology (thanks to guru Ian) – two TV’s networked to the results on each course and the split times kept the finishers up to date in our TV media centre. Using "hot spot" Ian was able to get the results up on the web in real time – just a step along the path to our presentation of the 2015 Australian Championships Carnival in Ballarat. We got Rod Gray right back into the swing of things (Rod was one of the original EU members back in the mid-1970’s!) – he even towed the hire toilets back to Palmer Hire! Welcome back to orienteering to the Savages (Greg and Leonie) from Haddon who had their first go in several years. It was good to have Chris Skett and David Jenkins, students at Federation University, navigating well on the Moderate course. We look forward to having more students from the uni in the future local events. I’m sure that we will all sleep well tonight – confident in the knowledge that we did our best at Glenluce! Next it is MTBO at Linton on 27th April – with the usual "soft" start at the Linton PS. Hope to see you there.
