aMAZEing Ballarat - 2014 Cheque Handover to Balladonors

Mark Valentine, Chairman of Eureka Orienteers, made an appropriate style presentation of a cheque for $1200 to Ian Rossiter, Team Captain for Relay for Life Cancer Council Group, the Balladonors, by hopping on a unicycle, which was one of the challenges faced by competitors in this year’s aMAZEing Ballarat.

The event has now been running annually for eight years and is a fun, charity event organised by Eureka Orienteers where competitors have to solve a clue sheet before heading off to various location points around the city, where they may have to find some information or complete a team challenge.

This year the unicycle activity forced team members to work cooperatively to keep one member upright, while amongst many other activities teams had to learn a Tai Chi routine, attempt to play the bagpipes and search a large homewares store to find the price of a mystery object.

75 competitors in 22 teams, including one team from Norway who have been visiting Melbourne for a range of other orienteering events, took part in the fun which used the Eastwood Leisure Centre as the base for the start, finish and presentations.

The event takes place on the first Saturday in December each year with details promoted on the Eureka Orienteers website, www.eurekaorienteers.asn.au.
