Hi Eurekaites Well we did again – and with hardly any real hitches! A great team effort – headed by Rod’s excellent courses and map revisions, Steve Bird’s accurate and helpful controlling, Ian’s innovative results on the two tv’s + QR codes on the map for instant results all day, and a great team of helpers. Thanks to Roch (map printing) Jonesy (set-up and parking), Warwick and Elena (start/finish set-up), Richard and Judy (pre-start), Finn and Huon (map counting), Rod and son James (control placement and collection), Geoff (control collection), Chris (finish computer), Glenda, Heather, Dale and Lesley (Rego), Finn and Madeline (pack up), and store pack up (Seggi, John, Rod, James, Geoff and Blake). Everyone got a run – a real bonus when trying to stage a state standard event. The only stress on the day was having to get all the 50+ controls and water out on Sunday before courses opened at 11am – and we were ready with 2 minutes to spare! Thanks to the junior squad for doing the catering, Pax Hill Activity Centre for use of the terrific facilities, and DELWP for the permit to use of our home forest. They plan to do a control burn in the next few weeks if weather permits – so luck was with us there also. The weather could not have been any better – a great day to be out in the bush. And another bonus – looks like we gained two new members (James Gray and Gary Buchan) – both first students at Federation University. l’m sure very proud of our combined efforts. It has been 40 years since we first held an event in Canadian Forest on Tom’s fordiograph map and 10 years since the Victorian Relays – our last major event at this end of the forest.
