The last event in the latest BUNS is on tomorrow evening (Thursday) at Lake Gardens. The start is in the small park at the eastern end of Ayrvale St.

Mass start will be at 5.45pm, with some leeway for those who need to start earlier or later.

There is also an orienteering event close to Ballarat next Sunday. It will be held at Mt Beckworth which is a forested reserve west of Clunes. It has many granite boulders and good views from the higher parts.

If you have never experienced orienteering in the bush, this is a good chance to try. There will be a range of courses varying in length (from 2 – 6km) and difficulty (very easy to hard) and you can choose whichever suits you. You can start anytime between 10.30am and 12.30. Just turn up on the day and ask for assistance in getting going.

Directions to the event are:

From Clunes, take the road towards Maryborough (C287, Bailey St) for 1.5 km. Veer

left onto Cemetery Rd. After 350 metres, cross a railway and immediately turn right into Pickfords Rd. After a further 300 metres, veer left at the unsignposted fork in the bitumen road. After 1.2 kilometres you will reach a crossroad and turn left into Kierces Rd.

2.8 km down Kierces Road, turn right into Mountain Creek Rd. When you reach the edge of

the forest, turn right and continue to the event parking. It is about 40mins drive from central Ballarat.

If you are interested in going and want more information, see me at BUNS tomorrow or send an email.

Hope to see you at Lake Gardens

Jenny
