Last Sunday afternoon, Eureka Orienteers entertained around 100 teams in the 2018 Teachers Games Amazing Race.  Like last year the event was broken into 3 groups overlapping between 2pm and 6pm.  Clearly a number of teams had learnt from last year and spent more time studying the clues before heading out from the Eastwood Leisure Complex to take on the challenges in the Ballarat CBD.  This year the usual array of tricky location points caught out even the experienced especially the one at Pencilmark Lane – who knew you could once upon a time get your mattress remade with horsehair.  Teams were challenged also with a shoe kick, bouncing a tennis ball into a bin, pin the steering wheel on the Porsche, hawser (rope) hold and came back to the finish with a wide array of tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplant ready for donation to Breezeway.  Of special note were the team Amazing Hekkas who almost scored the perfect result, leaving just one location point out – even though their finishing time could easily have managed it had they just done the course in a slightly different fashion.  Great thanks to our amazing Eurekans who volunteered to help run this event, Blake, BJ, Monica, Ken, Angela, Jenny and Rod.
