December Eureka News

*Breaking news! Warwick and James will start our events program for 2021 with two park/street events in December and two in January.
Start – at 6pm – Finish by 7pm
Controls – either tapes with numbers on them, SI with plate controls or hanging markers
Guidelines – we will be adhering COVID safe procedures – touch-less controls – and will encourage physical spacing at the start and finish. If you don’t feel well, please stay home until you are well.

Dec 17 Thurs        Yuille Homestead, start at the east end of Vickers St in Sebas at the shelter in the park
Dec 23  Wed         Sparrow Ground, start at the shelter near the old oval off Spencer St between Kline St and Richards St, Canadian
Jan 14  Thurs        Ballarat Nth/Black Hill, start at the shops at the corner of Walker St and Simpson St
Jan 21  Thurs Wendouree Gardens, start at the Lake Gardens shops, enter on Lake Gardens Ave then right on Cedars Gv

**So bring your SI stick or borrow one from the club supply on the night. We’ll keep the prices down to 2020 standard – $5 per group or individual entry (pays for the map and the VOA levy for park/street events). Tell your friends and just show up at 5.45 to get instructions on the night – tips for newcomers – and general Q&A at physical distancing.

***Eureka was successful in obtaining a $1000 grant from SRV for new 10 SIAC Air sticks. These will be available in mid to late January for touch-less punching on SI controls set for beacon mode.

****Ian has “boxed up” all the SI gear in handy containers for the beginning events in 2021. Should make our first big event – the NOL Hageby – a really special event. More details soon from Roch.

*****Congratulations the small band of 7 Eureka members who started their sprint season with the 2020 Victorian Sprint O at Kensington today.  Warwick and Eleanor ran great races to finish 2nd in their groups while Geoff, Margaret, Bill, Toby and Belinda were a bit off the pace this morning. Hope the four training events in December and January will bring out the old as well as encourage the new.

Cheers
