Seems like spring has sprung! The wattles are really starting to show the yellow that means the weather has got to start warming up! But with the lockdown still in place until mid-September or later, we have time to plan what might be our Eureka involvement in the end of this year and into 2022. Taking into consideration that we will be pretty heavily involved in the 2022 Aus Champs in Central Victoria, I’ve taken this opportunity to bring you into the loop of our potential schedule for 2022.
WE NEED DECISIONS THIS WEEK ON THE EVENTS UP TO JUNE 2022 (AT A MINIMUM) SO PLEASE MAKE YOUR PLANS NOW TO HELP RUN EVENTS IN 2022.
Laurie Niven will call a ZOOM meeting this Friday 10th September at which she needs our events in Parks areas up until at least June. I suggest Ian C organises a ZOOM meeting this week to confirm our 2022 Events – course setters, organisers and advisors for 2022.
31st October 2021 – Woowookarung North – 5 courses set by Toby, controlled by Blake – maps printed; involves mtbo and a Ballarat local series event – entries all in Eventor already and will go ahead starting from Pax Hill Scout Camp IF the lockdown allows Melbourne people to ride/run. Permission from Parks achieved.
BikeO-75 Series: 5 events over Jan, Feb, Mar 2022 – with no EU commitment.
Vic MTBO Series: March or early April: Creswick Forest / Mt Doran / Woowookarung South – single middle/long distance with 5 courses.
2022 Vic MTBO Champs: 14-15 May: Nerrina – 3 events in 2 days – Sprint and Middle on Saturday, Long on Sunday – shared with BK and YV – EU to do the Finish on all three events (Brown Hill oval and Little Bendigo Primary School) and possibly set either sprint, middle, long courses.
Summer Park/Street Series in Ballarat: Many maps to choose from for either foot or mtbo courses; low organisation – 3 or 4 courses, enter on eventor or on the day
2022 Autumn Vic Series: Enfield event (cancelled on 29th August) – Roch has 5 courses set so need a date and permit update from DELWP; better to have this in Autumn rather than August as we have the Aus Champs in Sept/Oct.
Do EU run any Sprint events or monthly low key events (2 or 3 from same location over a month) during this Summer and early Autumn in Ballarat?
Lead up events to the Aus Champs: Does EU want to run event in July/August leading up to the carnival – like Gary’s Nerrina South event (cancelled from July this year) or others in a Ballarat Winter Series??
2022 Aus Champs: Responsibilities so far in the carnival plan – Warwick W (Event Organiser for Carnival); Blake (Event Advisor for Vic Middle Distance), Roch (Map Maker for Aus School Sprint), Chris Norwood (Event Advisor for Aus Middle Distance); EU to setup the start/finish/results for Australian Short Event on 24th Sept Saturday pm in Daylesford
2022 Vic Teachers Games – Mark and Sam V to set aMAZEing courses for 18th September in Geelong Streets and Parks as part of large 25th Anniversary event.
