Hi everyone
What a day for Eureka at the Australian Champs Relays yesterday at Campbells Creek ! Our podiums got a real workout with 3 people on each – and thanks to Rod’s great workmanship they stood up well during the whole carnival!
Winners are “grinners” and we had them in spades. 1st M65A Roch and Chris (Ted V) 1st W21E Aislinn (Natasha K, Asha S) 2nd M35A Warwick and Toby (Ricky T) 3rd W Open B Sarah, Judy and Dale …and a “could have been” in M75A but our 3rd leg runner’s map was taken by another team! Jenny B (always Eureka!) also scored a first for her ACT team.
After a big effort thru out the carnival by the whole Eureka team, we’ve earned a bit of a rest – but watch for small local events in Ballarat over the summer. Thanks from the EU executive for your contribution to the 9 events just completed – particularly to Warwick, Ian, Mark, Rod, Chris, Blake, Aislinn, and Roch – who played major roles as course planners, event advisors, event infrastructure, and finish tent computing. Without their “cool under pressure” efforts even the great weather we had over most of the week would have not run so smoothly (thanks to the Lawford’s efforts at the OGP and the ASOC relays ran like clockwork).
Despite not staging aMAZEing this year in December – we can be really proud of the efforts of Mark and Sam Valentine + our enthusiastic helpers (Toby, BJ, Sarah, Terry, Rod and Blake) for staging the Vic Teachers Games aMAZEing event in Geelong the week before the Aus Champs Carnival. I don’t believe we did all this so successfully in the past 3 weeks!
And finally big thanks to Warwick, Margaret and Eleanor for making the whole Aus Champs carnival happen so successfully.
Bring on summer and the renewed contributions from all members to growing our small but very talented club.
Cheers Blake
