Hi everyone
After a busy end of 2025 with family and friends, I’ll catch you up with what has been happening over the last month. 1 With the closing of ELC, EU storeroom since 2011, our new storeroom was found and secured at Russell Square Sports ground at the corner of Scott Parade and Stawell Street. With the help of Rod, Roch, Warrick, Gary, Ian, Mark and Blake, we dismantled and transported much of our gear to the new site before the 19th December.
2 With Chris guiding the 25-26 April NOL preparations, Roch made the effort to map Phoenix College in Sebastopol for the 2nd sprint race, while Rod spent many hours revising the complex mining terrain in Nerrina between the by-pass and the 5-ways on White Swan Road for Sunday’s NOL Relays and Vic State Series races. Warrick and Blake negotiated with Fed Uni to get access to SMB Campus for 1st sprint race despite the huge Ballarat Marathon dominating that weekend.
3 Blake and Rod managed the fitting out of the new shed with new shelves, “trundles” and hanging frames to safe guard our TV’s and electronic gear. We’ve acquired several small tables, a boom box for commentary and two new shelves from ELC and have gifted 40 old control stands/flags to Woodmans Hill and the Steiner School. Rod has fixed wires in our control flags and is just about finished 34 new aluminium stands – bringing our total to 70 lightweight stands (+ 30 T bar steel stands).
4 With fires and floods dominating the first three weeks of January, we plan to start Wednesday pm Park/Street events in the next week or so. Hope you will join us in early February for a “Grand Opening” of our new storeroom with a new map of Russell Square, a ‘tour de shed’, a park/street event, and a bbq! Watch this space for details. Bring on 2026 with late summer local P/S events, 4 Ballarat Classics, a MTBO event, April’s NOL, several local Ballarat events, and the Australian MTBO Championships in October. Cheers Blake
