Hi everyone
Just a quick greeting and brief news and events listing for 2023. While you are in slow down mode and hopefully enjoying the warm weather wherever you are here are a few things to put on your calendar for 2023:
1 Rejoin the VOA by sending your renewal via Eventor (instructions below) or contact Debbie Dodd, OVic Membership
- Log in. From the black menu bar, click on My pages/My memberships. Existing members will see their member status.
- Click on Apply for Membership
- Select Year, then State, then Club. Click Next at bottom of screen
- Select one option from each section. You’ll need to select a Club membership type, and an Orienteering Victoria membership type (ie online or posted magazine)
- Remember to join up other family members, so you can pay in one transaction.
- At the bottom of this page, check/correct your personal details, and those of any extra members. Click Next.
- Check the summary and what you have agreed to pay – if correct, Save to proceed to payment.
- Payment is via PayPal or POLI (bank transfer).
2 Register your “Working With Children” number with Aislinn Prendergast, OVic Secretary. All CS and volunteers should have one – and they are free if you are a volunteer. Just look at the website.
3 Pop your name and event help request back to Blake Gordon blakegordon1@bigpond.com so that we can fill out our rosters by end of January for 2023 Eureka events
Then our list of events for 2023 – note the red ones need volunteers by end of January to Blake; blue ones have responded already.
The Ballarat Winter Series events had four courses (Long Hard, Short Hard, Medium Moderate, Short Easy) in 2022. Probably stick with that format. You could add a 1 Medium MTBO course at Nerrina, and Fed Uni to give an option for keen ones.
A January and February Summer events – contact Ian Chennell; training events with basic skills practiced
B 26 March – Maryborough MTBO events – am at Mosquito Flat (Peter Cusworth CS, Blake EA; pm Bull Gully Wells (Mark V CS, Ian C EA)
C 2 April – Ballarat – Victorian Foot Relays – at Pax Hill (north end of Woowookarung); Course Setter ??, Event Advisor ??
D Ballarat Winter Series (BWS) #1 – 25 June – Nerrina (Little Bendigo School); CS Richard Goonan, Ev Advisor ?? Ev Organiser ??
E BWS #2 – 2 July – Yuille’s Wetlands (east end of Vickers Street in reserve); CS ?? Organiser ??
F BWS #3 – 9 July – Federation Uni (Mt Helen Campus) and Technology Park; CS ?? Organiser ??
G BWS #4 – 23 July Lake Daylesford (enlarged map from Grand Prix); CS/EA/EO Bill Borrie, Sarah Corfe, Toby Cooper – option for another course at Cornish Hill for the newcomers??
