Hi everyone
The Victorian Long-Distance Championships at Linton was lucky to have the best weather of the weekend on Sunday morning – and the results certainly showed that EU made the most of the opportunity. Congratulations!

Meanwhile in Geelong – same Sunday but starting a bit later – Eureka hosted the 2019 Victorian Teachers Games aMAZEing Race for over 450 keen teachers. It is not often at an event to see everyone so enthusiastic and pumped (fancy dress included!). Was particularly impressed with the Valentine combo – Sam and father Mark – who made such a big event run so smoothly. Thanks to Toby’s great help with the program and registration of teams, Monica’s running of the old ‘shovel and bucket’ relay down on the foreshore, and Blake adding up the scores at Denny’s Restaurant in Brougham Street (first time we’ve ever finished in commercial restaurant!) and several very useful helpers from the teachers and volunteers. Medals for top 3 three teams – and “wooden spoons” for the team that tried but scored fewest points were awarded to the screams from the crowd. Four ‘waves’ of about 30 teams (each team had 2 hours to complete the race) made the staggered start/finish possible for the EU team without long waiting times. Great fun for everyone and so many ’thank you’s’ from the teachers for our efforts made for a terrific buzz as we packed up – and it’s on again in 2020!
Cheers
Blake
