Folks,   I have been asked to forward on the sad news that Mike Hubbert passed away suddenly on the weekend.     I don’t have any details at this time.    Many enjoyed Mike’s quick wit, appreciated his absolute dedication to our sport (including serving as editor of the Australian Orienteer, as Treasurer of the VOA, and as Secretary of OFA) and cheerfully heard the many stories Mike told of the early years (such as running the first orienteering event at Upper Beaconsfield in August 1969 and then winning the second Open course at Elliott Lodge, Healesville in a little under 4 hours!)      I’m sure there will be dedications and fond remembrances in the next VOA e-news and OA bulletin.
